For the month of May, my rain gauge is reading 4.11”! We’re not done yet, either. Oh, well…
After dishes and some laundry, I used the grey morning to work on my table…
Originally, I had planned on woodburning something on the legs… but I’m behind on my gift making and I need to finish this quickly and get to making other stuff! I decided to paint the legs… oh, my! That was a disaster!
I thought it was ghastly! Too bright, too much, just, oh, Lordy, too… everything!
I went back to my sandpaper…
Well. That’s better. I kept going round and round, sanding. Faded colors are good. I need to experiment… darker stain to bring out the wood grain? Burning it to bring out the wood grain? Dark wax? I’m not sure what my next step will be…
Well, I do… I’m going to do black and white stripes on the base of the legs… and then I will try to find something!
Anyone have any brilliant ideas?
Find me here!
I do think it needs some burning on the legs to tie it in better. Not loving the legs as they look now.
Otherwise the table is amazing!
I don’t think it was as ghastly as you think, but I like the lighter better, I think. 😉 That was an overuse of the word “think.” lol Don’t worry. It’s going to be a hit and I hope a treasure for many years to come.
I like the way the legs are now. Just put wax over the color. It will look great
Dark wax is not as darkening as you’d think. Annie Sloan makes the best. I have it. I did a wash with a watered down paint. On my front doors. Then I waxed them. I expect it would give you more control as well. The wax will set in.
Rain. A lousy spring everywhere. But I expect you’ve greened up. I used to love coming over pumpkin vine (s if Laramie) to see that expanse all carpeted. Google Annie Sloan paint for advice. She’s the best.
good Saturday morning, another damp weekend, we had 2&3/4 inches rain Thurs. night! not sure our total for May, but a lot! Oh, the table, my humble opinion, Stop, It looks great now!
