Life, Liberty, and Longmire

Posted on July 5, 2019July 5, 2019

With two weeks notice, we pulled off another Longmire float for Craig Johnson and the Friends of the Ten Sleep Library! The 4th of July parade’s theme was “Give Me Liberty”, so we modified it just a touch! Our version was “Give me Life, Liberty, and Longmire”

The book covers we used on our first Longmire float for Dry Bones… and they’ve been used as art on our walls in the library off and on ever since. I’m very bummed because we taped and stapled the heck out of them this time, and they won’t be very nice looking if they survived the thunderstorm this evening. We may have to reprint some, just so I will quit whining like a 13 year old!

The giant wolf is coming out of Craig’s new book, Land of Wolves. Just for you, here’s some secrets about our wolf book. Since we only had the front cover for the book, each side is the front cover, but I hand painted the spine of the book. We always put a yellow Wyoming author sticker on if applicable, and our call number is M (Mystery), John (Johnson).

We also put a barcode on our library books… so I made one, but put it inside the book, since we didn’t have a back cover where we would normally put it. It has the stripes like a normal barcode and then the number 390922019070410. All of our books start with 39092. Then 2019. Then 07/04. 10 just cause the parade started at 10 am. We also stamped the inside of the book with our “Ten Sleep Library” stamp. We discussed putting a date due slip and a book mark in it, too, but we ran out of time!

Ready to go!

We drove as slowly as we could… the main street isn’t that long.

Then it was back to the library for free hot dogs, Waltmart, and a reading from Land of Wolves.

Yup, it was a pretty fine morning, all in all!

Happy Independence Day!

4th of July celebrations in Ten Sleep are the best anywhere! Looks sunny. Hope it wasn’t too hot. We were hot, humid and hazy here in Maryland, and then an afternoon torrential rain storm that blew out the gutters!
