NEWS!

Posted on August 4, 2019August 4, 2019

It’s been a long time coming.

I’ve been asked why I’m not breeding English Shepherds anymore… and I have to tell them, I’ve been trying!

Dally didn’t take with a stud… twice. Then I felt she was getting old… and I spayed her.

Eden arrived, but had to grow up and get her hips tested and prove that she was worth breeding. Then, two unsuccessful AI’s to Lucas.

Of course, having to put Lucas down last year broke my heart.

Now, I really hate to jinx myself… but life moves on… and I chose to get a new stud. His name is Merlin. I will probably change it… though I certainly don’t mind “Merlin”!

Can you say, “awwwwwww…”?

RIGHT???????

Merlin is from Shepherd’s Way English Shepherds… the same great person Lucas was from! How did *that* work out??? I don’t know… maybe some furry sweetheart is looking out for me!

Merlin is now 8 weeks old and ready for his new home. I was trying to figure out how to get him here, was I going there/ was Mary going to bring him here/ was he going to fly?/ was there anyone else who might be coming this way????

Well, Instagram is a wonderful little program… and as I was scrolling and scrolling… I came across a friend’s photo of the Oregon coast! What are the odds that someone I know is vacationing not far from Merlin’s breeder… and that they are very willing to bring my new partner back to Wyoming??

He won’t actually be here until the 10th of August… but I can’t hardly stand to keep this to myself any longer!!

Keep your fingers crossed that Merlin gets here safely next weekend…

and I welcome ideas for a new name!

    He is so handsome. I think he could be called Merly, which is shorter and easier to say than Merlin when you are calling him! ;-}

Awwwwwww!!!! What a darling!! I don’t have any name suggestions, because I think Merlin fits him so well. I do see a funny glimpse of Sam Elliott in him though, with mustache points on the sides of his face and the eyebrows… lol… it’s probably like seeing things in clouds. :p
He’s a beautiful boy, and I hope all goes swimmingly well!

Well, if I said “awwwwwww” it would be a massive understatement!!! I’m so glad, Carol. This little guy looks like he brings with him some serious healing powers. I do like the thought/sentiment that there is some furry sweetheart looking out for you. Now, to count down to the tenth… while trying not to let the heart skip too many beats…
P.S. Your photos last week were out-of-this-world beautiful!

I have watched this litter and you are one lucky person! I love the name Merlin because of Merlin Olsen. So happy you are getting this one, he’s very special! Have watched and read since you got Lucas and am looking forward to watching this one grow and learn to be a cow dog!

And, he’s Lucas’ nephew. How cool is that?! I will think on names, or at least ideas for a general direction.

Oh my gosh is he ever handsome. I was writing a book for my grandchildren. I named the dog in the story, Master Of The Herd or Moth for short. I think your new friend has great even markings like a moth, so you can use it if you like. Ha ha.
