Today, we went and picked up our new-to-us dining table and chairs. It’s much darker than the other woods we have, a rich “almost cherry”… about as far from the beat up, blonde, 1950’s table and buffet we inherited when we moved into this house.

Everything is sturdy and solid. I really like them… but…
No more woodburning at the dining table… and what to do with that blonde buffet in the background?
Find me here!
I think the blond buffet blends nicely and looks like it belongs. Give the whole thing a month and you’ll be used to it. You can always do some alterations on the buffet as others have suggested.
It looks beautiful! Congrats! We
need to get a new table also.
You are very talented and I vote with everybody else who said paint or wood burn the blonde buffet. Think of it as an opportunity to creat a family heirloom. Maybe re-create important family milestones.
I’m probably the last person anyone would ask about interior design, but here’s my thoughts anyhoo.
All sorts of wood live together in the forest–why not in the house too?
If it is something that is really important to you then do change it. From the photo it looks like the buffet is a very functional piece–so maybe use your wood finishing creative gift and give it a new look.
Change is good. The dark wood is beautiful.
You can sell it, since it is an antique. Or paint it and put in your cabin or paint it and donate to the library auction . I know you will come up with something awesome.
not sure what I’d do, but a table is for using, not looking at in my book, my dining room table is also my dining room desk & computer station, located in the south end of the room, patio door behind me, lot’s of sunshine & warm in the winter when the sun is low in the sky, there’s room for my meals also, course I live alone, so how much room do I need, what ever works best for you, the blond buffet looks happy as is-
