Phone calls. They can ruin the best of plans.
“Just thought you’d want to know… just down from your house, there’s a cow out on the road.” I thanked a neighbor for the heads up, sighed, and headed for my coat and boots.

There she is, a young heifer, discontented with grazing a field, she’s now along the roadway, eying an elk trail that leads towards the mountain. I send Eden to move her off the fence, but call Eden off quickly. The heifer can easily remember how and where she escaped and will, especially if there isn’t a dog on her heels, scaring her.

See… there she goes… right back to the gate.

She steps OVER the remaining wires calmly and returns to the field.

I don’t know if the broken wires were her fault or if I should blame the frequent wildlife visitors that use the same spot to enter the field. A few more minutes and the wires were repaired.
Order restored, I could return to my house and carry on.

Don’t you love it!!! I had one come through. Took down fence, a gate and the poles in my feeder. Of course, it was raining. Life in a ranching area.
Thank goodness it was only one! Love your new pup! He is beautiful!
