I’ve slacked off on ranch work lately… letting the guys do projects without my “help”. The other day, I stopped in to see all the work they’ve done on our calving shed.
First of all, they’ve repaired the corral.
They’ve torn down a fence line that ran from this post clear over to the orchard fence. It had mostly fallen down and was much more hindrance than help in getting heifers into the corral.
They tore off an old loading chute from the doorway that I don’t think we’ve used since I’ve been here…
They repaired and moved our calf shelter.
Most importantly, they spray foamed the interior of the calving shed to provide more warmth for those chilled babies.
While I didn’t pull out any “before” photos for you to compare, I still needed to post these, so there’s a record of when we did the remodel. They have talked about even extending the shed itself… and, I’ll be there sooner or later to record that!
