We had the crew for Vernon’s birthday party today… Vernon woke up at four a.m. to stick a brisket in the smoker. The brisket was from some of Brandon and Megan’s grass fed beef. Wow, was it excellent! I just threw some potatoes in the oven, and had a corn and bean salad that included some black eyed peas for good luck.
I also made Vernon’s standard cake request… German Chocolate cake. You seriously can’t go wrong with German Chocolate cake!
After a week of being older than Vernon, I’m glad he caught up to me! Those seven days of “robbing the cradle” are stressful. I hope your holidays were fun.. the next few days will include some crafts, a countdown from last year’s posts… and, hopefully, a giveaway.
I didn’t make any resolutions, but I am hoping to mix it up a bit more here on the blog. My blogoversary will be coming up soon. Twelve years! Twelve years of blogging… yeah, it’s time for something new. Stay tuned.

Happy New Year, 2020! Best wishes to you both. And a late Happy Birthday to Vernon. That is a great photo of you two! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a wonderful meal. Especially the part where the husband gets up at 4 am to start the meal. (great photo)
Happy birthday, late, Vernon. As far as your blog, my theory is “if its not broken, don’t fix it”. The way it suits me. Always enjoy.
As a customer of Brandon and Megan, I’ll sure vouch for how delicious their grass-fed beef is!
🙂 Maybe you’ll share your German Chocolate Cake recipe with us on your blog sometime this year? Looking forward to reading your posts in 2020. Happy New Year!
Happy Birthday Vernon. A great photo of you both.
