Black Hills Stock Show

Posted on February 3, 2020February 3, 2020

Vernon and I took a flying trip to the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City. We’ve never been before and didn’t know really what to expect, but there were some people at the trade show he thought he’d like to talk to… So, five hours later, there we were in Rapid!

I have some time lapse videos I’ll share later of the country. Some of you will enjoy it. Some of you will need dramamine! Hint: It’s not a straight road to Rapid!

We were very interested in cattle handling equipment: portable corrals, loading docks, squeeze chutes, calving pens, tubs, whatever! Of course, this brand name caught our eye.

There were animals, too. Everything from baby lambs to miniature zebu to kids showing their animals. Unfortunately, we’d miss the Angus show…

We’d also miss some online “friends”… Amanda from BEEF magazine, who also has a cool online store… Trent Loos who was a speaker with me at Worland’s WESTI Ag Days two years ago… and the very kind folks from DeTye Vet Supply. Things just didn’t work out, and for that, I was a little bummed.

But there was more to see!

We attended the Extreme Bulls and even got to watch a “local” guy from Thermopolis ride! Way to go, Hawk! (This is not him. My video of him turned out ok, but my stills are just poor photos. Too far away and too fast for the lighting!)

There were also the big six team of Percherons… always happy to see the gentle giants!

Also more trailers, leather purses, boots, hats, wild rags, cool sweatshirts, turquoise, earrings, blouses, and more turquoise than I will see the rest of the year!

That’s enough for tonight, though… here’s what everyone’s been waiting for!

I love the Percherons too. So big and calm. Same for the Clysdales (sp?)

Glad you went even though things didn’t quite work as well as you would have liked.
Vernon should have that sign (or one like it)

Glad you had a good trip. We don’t get many strait roads over the pond. When my daughter drove up the Big Thomson Canyon in CO there was concern from our US friends. A very bendy road. No problem my daughter said. Just like driving in Wales. You’ll see what I mean if you check out Wales on a map!!!!!
