Easter Hunt

Posted on April 13, 2020April 13, 2020

While our Easter was white, that’s not unusual. The extreme cold and wind was a little rougher!

Every year, I’ve made a scavenger hunt for the kids. I started with photographs of the chicken coop, garage, or other recognizable places, and they’d run place to place, never knowing where I’d hidden their sacks of presents and candy.

Since Reagan is the only one who can’t read… she had a special hunt of her own… following flowers and colors.

Given the first small yellow flower, she looked for the rest of the photo, then had the clue for the next. Tess said the only problem was I over estimated her height, and hung them at the top of her head, and she didn’t look up!

The older kids, since they all could read, received written instructions.

Each family came separately this year. While that was sad… it made my job easier, having to come up with two hunts, not four!

The chicken coop holds two clues. Even through the storm, they had fun.

Creativity paid off even more this year, and it sounds like everyone had fun despite the cold.
When I was a kid, first we’d hunt for jelly beans in the house, then our baskets with the chocolate bunny and foil eggs.

One year, the “Easter Bunny” his my basket so well (in the oven) that I didn’t find it till we
got home from church and Mom called me to the kitchen because she saw something “different
behind the oven door’s glass. I’ll never forget that Easter!

    Keep well.

A wonderful time for you all. A snow adventure. No egg hunt here this year. No visitors. I also forgot to add Easter Eggs to my shopping that a friend is getting for me each week while in lockdown. This week I did put chocolate on the list. Yippee.

What a awesome Grandma you are. I have a friend with property near me. I put two Easter baskets in the outhouse (a very nice one). Knowing they would be coming up to property. They call it their ‘magic outhouse”. As there seems to be little things left there now and then. So fun to hear about what they find.

What a fun way you have! The snow actually looks nice, at your house, not mine, we had wind, rain & cold, I have a wind mill just like yours in my back yard, Sunday it was really busy- I’m ready for warm, sunny weather! Getting close to Farmers Market season, but this year, who knows, sad time we are in-
