Calf Hauler

Posted on April 20, 2020April 20, 2020

If you look closely, you can see a calf suspended on the back of the four wheeler. This calf was very young, and couldn’t travel with the main bunch. Brandon decided to give him a ride. This rack fits into the hitch, and holds the calf at eye level for his mom. It lets her see and smell her calf, and she’ll follow along, even if it’s right at the back of the four wheeler.

Nice! A whole lot better than having to carry them yourself. Reminds me of carrying calves in when they were born out in the pasture. I would get my head under them and lift them around my neck. That was quite a task with some of them, depending how big and/or how lively they were! You can’t lead a newborn calf, and you can’t herd momma, because she’ll just keep turning back to the calf, afraid it won’t follow. I miss those days. I can picture one particular calf in a specific spot in the pasture. It must have been a difficult calf to stick in my memory stronger than the others.

Is this something you bought or made? We’ve been looking for something like that.
