Remember this winter, when Vernon took me to where he was building fence high on a ridge? Although he worked hard in the snow, he only completed about half of the fence line.
There never has been a fence on that side of the pasture. When a wildfire took out many of the thick juniper trees on that ridge, the grass began to grow. When the grass grew, cows found the open areas with lush grass. They could then walk easily into the neighbor’s pasture.
Now that the cows have been in there a while, they’ve spread themselves out… which is a good thing.

Yes, there are cattle in that picture.
The thing is… someone needs to check the pasture daily, pushing any cattle down the hill so they don’t go up and over.
Oooooooooh! Pick me! Pick me!
The scenery is still gorgeous. This is the same Red Canyon we hiked the other day.

The dogs and I took pictures and enjoyed ourselves.

I’ll share more in the coming days.

Beautiful views. So much space and peace.
Yes, these pictures today are especially beautiful. Spring is coming in our northern climes!
Love the photos of your pasture. It always amazes me when you see the difference in a pasture back here in the east (40-50 acres, give or take) compared to the size of your pastures in God’s country. I know there is a difference in forage quality and density hence the pasture size. Keep up the great coverage of your way of life.
Lovely. I feel like a meadowlark was probably singing. Hope mild spring temps hold for a while.
