#TBT: “A Find”, v.2.0

Posted on July 2, 2020July 2, 2020

This was first posted July 9, 2009.

I know someone who found something and then, wonder of wonders, returned it to the closest owner available.

Her husband is a carpenter and was remodeling an old cabin.  Tucked away in the bottom of an old cabinet, was this.

purse1

Absolutely gorgeous, is it not???

Hand-tooled… spectacular.

It even has multiple pockets inside!

purse5

It has a beautiful clasp with heart shapes…

purse2

And it belonged to…

purse4

See it????Look closer…

purse3

Mrs. Frank Greet, Johnny’s mom.

My father-in-law’s mom!

My childrens’ great grandmother.

HOW COOL IS THAT?????

17 days before we celebrate our centennial, a purse belonging to that original generation, was returned to its “home”.

Johnny doesn’t remember it, but we’ll ask his sisters… it’s kind of a girl thing!

But thanks ever so much to C. for sending it back this way… full circle.

What a find.

I wonder if this purse was made in Mexico. My mother had a similar one and I was under the impression that it was from Mexico.

So beautiful – Wouldn’t you love to know who made this masterpiece. You would probably know his/her descendants. Kudos to the person who returned it to you.

So good that it got saved & returned “home” I learned leather crafting in high school, & one of my grandma’s had a set of leather working tools I could borrow, I still have a well worn bill fold & a belt I made back in the ’60’s, I made a purse for mom, but not nearly as nice as this one!
