Pink Blossoms

Posted on August 17, 2020August 17, 2020

I went creek stomping the other day, a term we used at Girl Scout camp – just a fun way to stay cool on these very hot days.

My fish pond and goldfish are doing quite well. The fish look like they’re on a high carb diet and have gained and grown! The pond does have a tendency to get a little murky, though, and I figured some plants were in order.

Along my creek stomp I found some grass growing in the middle of the creek… and some water smartweed. Perfect! With a bucket and shovel, I had soon collected them and back to the pond I went.

I tucked the roots under some rocks… added a smidge of dirt and gravel… and left to go help Brandon for a bit.

I honestly thought that the next day, they’d be tipped over and dead… but nope…

She’s blooming right along and making for a cool reflective shot with my chain link fence throwing in some unique patterning.

And speaking of flowers… A friend gave me five bulbs two years ago. Last year they were hailed on and they died back. This year they grew great at first, then yellowed and died. I just figured they were not happy in the least about their location.

I walked out to this garden yesterday and found this!

This huge stalk with three blossoms.

Surprise!

I think they are amaryllis. Can’t give the fancy Latin name..

Yes! I call those “Naked Ladies” I was told that name by a friend a long time ago.
The green dies off and in the summer they bloom
I have no clue what their proper name is….
