Wyoming remembered how to rain today. Saturday I was sweating while I was covering my tomatoes… yesterday was cooler and windy… right now it’s raining and 37 degrees, so snow will be here overnight.

I had some old floor underlayment… the cushioned foamy stuff under flooring. I wondered if it would help protect the tomatoes more… anyway, I will find out after the snow melts!

One covering of assorted plastic, then I put another tarp over everything.
We will see if my experiment works…

Have had a stove fire going the last two mornings. It is 34 here. I’m tending a friends garden. Too big to cover. Hoping the trees will protect some. This is sure a bad year for gardens.
Just saw a pic from my niece who lives in Lusk, Wyoming. Sure looks cold and snowy for September! Hope your tomatoes survive!
Insulated covering like this certainly seems worth a try to get your plants through this unusually early snowfall. You had such a beautiful, varied harvest from your garden that it’s a shame to lose the plants so early.
