Sometimes you forget how far you’ve actually come! My studio looks so much better now!
This was first posted September 20, 2009.
Here’s the south facing wall of my studio/aka the old chickenhouse…
The windows are covered in chicken wire…with traces of plastic sheeting left wafting in the breeze…The tiny picket door needs a latch to hold it closed…The wood door needs its hinges tightened so it doesn’t take a BIG SHOVE to open or close it…The pile of garbage to be hauled away will grow…Here’s a view from inside…
After a bit…it looks like this…
You enter the door and to the right are the nest boxes…and various unknown articles…
The front boards hide 3 inches of straw and chicken manure and dust…With a face mask, a hose, and bleach, I attack the nest boxes to turn them into shelving…
Lo! and behold…I like it!
Though they don’t sparkle yet…90% of the crud is gone…Another day of scraping and washing…and they’ll be ready for books and art supplies and treasures other than eggs…Who am I kidding?
It works now for chinking repair wood, hose nozzles, a hatchet, a fishing pole (just in case), and my first treasure an older license plate…I declare this MY territory!<<More on chinking repair in the days to come!>>
Find me here!
Who knew it coul look so much better. The wood shines.
Like one of those HGTV fixer upper projects.
