The weather has been holding and the guys keep finding jobs that they’ve wanted to do for years. For Vernon, it has been fencing, for Brandon, it’s been cleaning!
He’s cleaned our big long shed… and the other day I caught him tackling the ancient wood pile. If there’s anything that ranchers excel at, it’s keeping everything just in case you might need to reuse, repurpose or upcycle that one thing. Well, honestly, there does come a point, maybe after a hundred years or so, when even that keeper pile of posts, poles, and old bridge planks should just go away.
The wood pile was hard to move, especially since a bush had grown into the end of it. That had to go, too.
A few hours later, progress had been made.
Some reorganization of the good stuff we did keep… and maybe a bonfire for New Year’s…
There’s no lack of jobs to do…

Good winter projects! I bet each of the guy also have a memory like a safe when it comes to knowing just what they are keeping, and where it is. My Dad was like that.
Kind of like my garage & shop, I keep way too much stuff, you just never know when you need a 6″piece of 2×4 & why go buy a new 8 footer, I see a lot of “good” stuff in Brandon’s burn pile, but it will make a great weenie roast fire! We have a full blown snow & ice storm coming in this morning, already in Nebraska & heading all the way to the East coast, I hate winter!! Stay safe & early Happy New Year!
