One of my squares that I wood burned seemed to lend itself to a metallic look. I happened to have some metallic colored pencils, so I took a chance, and colored the square. At this point I was happy.
Of course, I thought it needed to be sealed, but thought stain would be too dark. Maybe just simple tung oil? As soon as I put tung oil on it, it smeared. Well, I didn’t mind, but then it continued to bleed. Sure enough, it went from bleeding to smears. Ugh.
Well, THAT wasn’t what I was going for!
I’ll have to figure out how to turn smears into artistic shading. Spray acrylic will protect it. I still think a light stain would add to it, but whatever happens… it will be another lesson in how to create my wood burned squares!
Your artwork is beautiful. I appreciate that you share what didn’t work out, which is always disappointing after so much work went into a project. But learning is often trial and error and something good came of it because you shared what happened. Now I know to be wary of tung oil over pencils, so thanks.
I like both! Do you sell these?
That’s beautiful! Bummer about the smearing, but it’s still beautiful.
It’s beautiful. Lovely tones with the metallic pencils. Lessons learnt will be taken forward to your next project. It’s learning all the way with crafting.
Beautiful design. Worth recreating.
I think it’s really pretty.
I like it, too! Of course I’m looking at it on a computer monitor, but I see lovely pastel colors and clear lettering. It is very pretty!
I like the metallic colors too! You’ll get it figured out.
I like it! your to hard on yourself, perfection to me is way over rated!
