Wind

Posted on March 30, 2021March 30, 2021

Yesterday, multiple places in Wyoming had hurricane force winds. Today was much better, but boy, the wind still had a bite to it! Since Victoria and boys are here for part of spring break, they couldn’t hardly stand to wait for their cousins to get home from school. When they arrived, it became All Kites On Deck.

We had them all, deltas, diamonds, box, airfoil. The wind came and went. Kids with cold hands came and went. A few times the box kite escaped but was run down. Kids were warned about power lines and trees.

I recalled my memories of growing up in Casper, Wyoming… I’d be out flying a kite, get called in for lunch, tie my kite off to the fire hydrant, go back out after lunch and it’d still be flying…

The kids were about ready to quit until I pulled out my pirate ship kite! She set sail on the wild blue skies…

And now I have sea shanties surfing my brain waves…

Good ol’ Wyoming wind. You sure can’t stop it, you might as well try to enjoy it.

You grew up in Casper…we lived in Casper from 1982 to 1991. The WIND was horrendous, fall through spring. One of our daughters attended a preschool that taught the cutest song, ‘When the Wind Dies Down in Casper’. She still remembers it to this day. And she is already 36 years old.
    Rest, keep healing.
