Big Project

Posted on April 9, 2021April 9, 2021

I don’t know if this is the time of year to be starting this… cow work will soon consume much of our time… but with the weather warming up, I can work on this out in the shop without freezing to death!

Megan has asked me to wood burn her dining table! Initially, we discussed one large sunflower, but she also wanted the table to be extended with a leaf in it. I couldn’t get my brain around how to do that. However, with multiple, smaller sunflowers, I can see how to do it.
I’ve spent an afternoon out there, starting the design, and I think it might look pretty cool when all is said and done! We’ve discussed it more since then… paint or no paint, different stains… even seeing if the grey stain she was thinking of could be done with a vinegar and steel wool concoction.
Have I forgotten making earrings or the stool top with my “winter count” look that I showed you just the other day?
Certainly not! Smaller items are great when you need a sense of completion, and even my winter count stool will be done soon enough. I can work on them inside and at night, but the table is big enough it must remain outside in the shop! I already have three extra tables sitting in my house for future projects!
I’ll share progress as I go, and for the next few weeks or months, you won’t have to guess what I’m doing in my spare time!
