So after we finally started to melt down in the heat at Fort Caspar, we drove a few miles to the “Trails Center“. The Oregon, California, Mormon, and Pony Express Trails used this area. Since it fit right in with our theme for the day, it was no question I’d bring the boys here after Fort Caspar.
This is an educational and very fun museum for kids… many hands on activities, and I don’t think the boys missed a one!
From the introductory movie to a jolting ox cart crossing the dangerous North Platte River to stereoscopic photos of the Oregon Trail scenery…
From this time pushing a fully loaded handcart to sending a telegram across the country…
(I had to inform them that my dad was in the Signal Corps when he was in the Army… just for reference!)
Another good time was had by all…
Find me here!
Thanks so much!
Another great day of exploring Wyoming’s history. I bet the boys were a big hit in their cavalry outfits.
What an adventure for your boys. Learning is so much more fun when there are buttons to be pushed.
so wonderful for the boys to learn about the history of where they live! Great memories being made! They are also the cutest kiddos!
Thanks for the pics we are learning too
