A few weeks ago, I had a visitor from Ten Sleep. He had attended Johnny’s birthday party and mentioned he’d like to see one of his dad’s old trucks he knew to be in our “junk pile”. That’s the place old vehicles go to rust away… but this particular one was here before we were on this place!
He actually drove this old truck over in Kaycee and later, in Ten Sleep. While he spent most of his time on large, dirt moving equipment, it was this truck that came out to fill him up with gasoline and keep him working. He was very tickled to see this!
I was happy to hear him reminisce. I hadn’t ever opened this work compartment, and to find a “vintage” receipt/record book was frosting on the cake! I insisted he keep it as an amazing momento.
I was very happy he came to look, dredge up some memories, and leave with a bit of history. Come back anytime!
Find me here!
So what was in those bottles and what was the truck used for? Wonderful to find someone who knows about what you have.
The old bottles just held screws, nuts, and bolts. The truck was used for hauling fuel to equipment like graders and scrapers in a bentonite mine.
What a wonderful find. So very exciting and many memories to pass on to future generations.
What a terrific “find” for your friend! And the old receipt book – wow!
Great story today.
That’s so cool! I love exploring old stuff like that.
You find history in places you’d never think of. Great story.
