When you work pushing the cows up the alley to the squeeze chute, you don’t get much of a break. Once one cow loads into the chute and the vet starts his business, you are back encouraging the next to step up and be in position.
You do get your steps in, though.
We’ve wanted to update and have a new design for this corral for many years, but we just keep chugging along with this one and all its quirks. At least we don’t use the ancient head catch when we preg test… the vet uses his own chute. Someday Silencer Chutes should sponsor us and give us one to demonstrate and promote their product! We have one all picked out…
This is where I was all day… Vernon to the right of me, Daniel and Tess to the left. Good thing Tess shared some photos because all I have is various versions of these two scenes.
Well, until we were finished and eating lunch…
Content heifers in the distance, blue sky, our vet, family, and yes, even our own family scarecrow! Perfect.
