The cows were gathered. The gate was opened. We’re ready to continue as four wheeler cowboys.

Thankfully, the cows seemed to be happy to head homeward. Sometimes, they aren’t ready to go home and you never really know. Perhaps the storm on Saturday encouraged them.

Lined out and going, scenes like this warm a rancher’s heart.

Bravo enjoyed himself. With no calves, he was more free to encourage movement.

The bogs have dried up over the summer, but it’s still not a place you want to drive your side by side. Good dog!

My side by side can’t quite go where a four wheeler can go, so a few times I had to go around the cows instead of following. Here, Bravo and I are keeping cows out of a pond. Often they will leave on the wrong side of the draw below the reservoir, so we’re keeping them on the road. I really wish I had time to frame this differently but I’m lucky I caught Bravo in action.

Finally… at 4 pm, we make it to the Mesa Pasture. The cows seem happy and go straight to the nice hard grass! Yay! It worked. We made it!

Great photos telling your story of a very busy day. Glad it all went well for you and cattle. Well done Bravo too.
Cows in nice straight lines ~ just like school kids! (I couldn’t resist the comment as a retired teacher) 🙂
These beautiful pictures make it all look so simple. Why wouldn’t anyone want to be a rancher.
Bravo has come a long way.
I’m just too busy to take photos when things go wrong…
So glad it worked out!
Beautiful pictures! Love it when cows behave, too.
