Finally. A day I could run down and get my baby calf fix. I’ve felt a bit left out. My standard checking of our heifers I gave up years ago when I moved to this place. I do usually make it to the calving shed before now, cleaning pens, putting heifers in, helping where I could. I was soooo happy to do it this morning.

As Brandon cleaned pens, I dipped a five gallon bucket in the trough, staggering back to three heifers and filled their tubs.

I sprinkled some lime in the pen to help disinfect it, then drug a straw bale into position for the next calf.

Brandon made an ear tag in preparation for giving the calves their matching numbers. We’re done for now… but there’s a new calf in the cows in the field we need to go check on. I’m game!

Sounds like you had a good day.
