Lately it seems like the spectacular weather occurs on days when I’m working at the library or in town. Then a snowstorm will roll through with cold winds and dismal clouds leaving mud the consistency of tractor grease. Those days don’t appeal to me for walks. Then there are days like today…
Retreating snow. Drying mud. Blue sky. Sunshine. Cows calving under the big red rock… To me, that’s just a little slice of paradise.
I’ve looked through cows here a zillion times. I’ve ridden and hiked and driven tractors, four wheelers, my Durango, and the side by side here. I’ve ponied grandkids, followed mountain lion tracks, found a cedar branch for a Harry Potter wand, and filmed calving videos right here. I’m sure Johnny has stories and Vernon and my kids… all happening right along here.
It all comes together on a gorgeous spring day…

Your daytime ‘office’ view is amazing.
Love the four seasons…couldn’t live where the weather was all the same!
So nice to see spring coming with its reawakening and newness of life.
Your philosophy that you’re living in “a little slice of paradise” is beautiful. I also think that having an appreciation for your own place and all of its wonders, large and small, is what leads to a sense of contentment.
Wonderful
