Sooo…
Do I tell you about branding, or the branding we did yesterday, or what we did today? After a month or more of not having hardly any photos to share, I have plenty!
Tess had to go to Cody today and Reagan has been a bit under the weather, so we decided she could stay with me, get a little rest, have a slack day and run around with me in the side by side if necessary. The cowboys called and requested I bring them lunch. No problem. As I’m making a chicken salad and gathering supplies, Reagan crawls up in Vernon’s recliner and she’s OUT. I let the cowboys know I’d be there after a bit… I wanted Reagan to get some nap in…
Give that kid credit… when I did wake her, she was ready to go in a few short minutes. She’s a trooper, honestly. It’s a nice day, and we breeze down the highway until we meet the cowboys.
We grab lunch, talk to some neighbors as they drive by, sort out some pairs, and tag a few babies. Then we’re off, moving the herd up the highway. Daniel wants to try a new route and we do.
Bravo is alternately helpful and not. There’s no other way to give him experience but to let him do it. It just is so hard to balance giving him the experience and having him screw things up. Since I’m not on horseback, it’s not me that fixes his mistakes when he turns a calf the wrong way, and I keep apologizing to everyone. They probably would just as soon I tie up my dog, but I don’t. Sometimes I can be hard headed, too. He must get experience and since I can’t get it any other way, here we are.
I do pile out and run to head off some calves… and I return to this…
Miss Reagan, just chillin’, waiting for me to return and drive us onward. I can’t count the number of times I just left her, though I’m rarely more than 50 yards away. She just watches, half zoned, singing the Lion King songs…
We made it as far as we could in the side by side and it was time to get the rest of the kids off the school bus anyway… so we headed home, both my partners in crime fully tired.

Spring has sprung for y’all! Stay safe out there!
What a lovely time you both had, sharing the day together.
She is just precious. Hope she is feeling better. Love the green pastures. Would love to be riding with them to move the cattle.
