Wildflower Break

Posted on May 7, 2022May 7, 2022

I’m finally back to feeling well after catching what I assumed to be Reagan’s case of strep throat. With all of the rain and now a couple of nice spring days, the grass has jumped and everything looks SO GREEN.

I spent the day wanting to mow my yard, but first I had to pick up my garage, putting away the final few Christmas decorations and all the grandkids sleds. Next came the discovery of a flat tire… which took up more time… Then I needed to change the oil. Then I decided I’d take my new saddle to the barn, gather up some lime for another project, skip down to the Cogdill place to snag some big plastic tubs… and take some pictures along the way…

I still haven’t done the mowing… but I did accomplish many small jobs. I’ll shoot for tomorrow morning before the next rainstorm!

Lovely spring colours so very different to here in Middle England. Daffodils are gone but bluebells still hanging on in secluded places on the hills.

How lovely to have both yellow and orange-red Indian paintbrush. Indian paintbrush is my favorite early spring wildflower, maybe flowering so early because it’s a hemi-parasite that’s getting nutrients from other shrubs.

Beautiful wildflowers! Funny how all of a sudden the grass has really started to grow; the the green is gorgeous! Sure takes me time to put everything away from the winter season and start anew…little by little.
