I was lucky enough to get some photo albums from a relative in order to take photos of photos…
Though I tend to lean towards landscapes and working shots, the majority of the photos are of people. I liked this one, because the young men standing on the right and left are Frank and Fred Greet. They are the twins that left the original homestead and bought the place we’re on in 1909. Their parents and their brothers helped them gain the knowledge and experience and work ethic to build up our ranch from the barebones. This photo was taken about 1903. Six years later, in their early 20’s, they purchased the Joe Henry place. They continued to add on small parcels, other homesteads from neighbors. I’m suspicious that the cabin that they are standing in front of is the original Greet cabin on Spring Creek. I suppose we will never know… I’d like to give a humongous thank you to these young men. Even with the photos we have of them as babies and young boys, it is this one, when they’re on the cusp of manhood, that speaks to me. Their hard work and dedication continues to bless us to this day and we know how lucky we are.

What a treasure this photo is. And the twins look happy.
Wow!! Circa 1908, 3 years after my mother was born in Nebraska. The occasion might have been a family photograph or an anniversary.
Love these glimpses into the history of your family and ranch!
Interesting find that gives a rare look at the past. It looks like it might have been a special occasion or gathering, since all the men have suit jackets, vests, and ties on. A handsome, hard-working and dedicated family.
Oh, what an amazing photo. Hard working people, in front of their sod roof cabin. There was a window! They were proud of the ranch they built. They’d be so very proud of the generations of Greet families that continue to care for their piece of Wyoming earth. The sweat & tears continue with pride.
