Something to Smile About

Posted on November 14, 2022

Thank you for your outpouring of sympathy for our loss. You are very kind.

While we struggle through the process, there is still a ranch to tend to, and, no surprise, cattle to move. We had already scheduled trucks to haul some calves tomorrow which meant we had to gather them today.

I could post about that… but in the midst of chaos has come a small spark of joy. Traveling clear up from Oklahoma with an unexpected detour through Kaycee, is this.

Little Miss No Name As Of Yet, arrived after lunch today. While I was scheduled to meet her transport yesterday, with all things getting discombobulated, my son-in-law did instead and then met up with Victoria who brought her straight to my door.

She looks big in this photo, but she is very petite.

We squeezed in a short walk before heading back and weighing calves. You can tell that staying in the scale house with me while I’m yelling ”OK” after I get each weight, with the banging and clanging of gates and hooves echoing around, was extremely traumatic for her.

She’s laying at my feet, off leash, and I’ll admit, probably travel worn and tired, but she could have been stressed, panting, pacing, shaking, and scared. She wasn’t. She’s been getting praise for being such a good traveler… she’s just been GOOD.

It’s nice to have something to smile about…

Aw. Does she descend from Lucas Dally or Elsa?

She is from the Butcher family in Oklahoma where I received Elsa from… small world.

Love the puppy, She will bring smiles during this time. I think a great name for her would be
Traveler. She seems very content at your feet. Prayers for peace and comfort for the family.
