I knew I was missing it, but it’s difficult to celebrate when you don’t feel the best. I’m on the mend, just need to kick this cough out of my lungs. I do feel well enough to write, though, so HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY TO ME!
I’ve just rambled through my blog anniversary posts from past years… my, at the time this blog covers… 2008. January 20. It was a very long time ago. Can anyone remember what they were doing in 2008? Well, luckily I can because I began blogging. Sure, I wasn’t good at it or consistent in the beginning, but I’ve learned and kept at it, and I now have a fifteen year diary online. Thousands of photos. A small itsybitsy glimpse into a rare and blessed lifestyle. I could get all mushy mushy here, but I’d rather just share the achievement!
In that honor, you know what’s coming, don’t you, my dedicated friends? Yup. A giveaway. And you know the prize…. Yup. A 2023 Red Dirt In My Soul calendar. It’ll be easy enough to win, just make a comment on this post or on the Facebook version of THIS POST ONLY. If you comment on tomorrow’s or later, it won’t count. I will give you until Friday, January 27 at midnight Mountain Time to see this post and comment on it. Restricted to the USA, sorry, my overseas friends. (I have been meaning to see if New Zealand has loosened some restrictions and postage isn’t prohibitive anymore. $70 was a bit much for one calendar’s postage last year!)
I’m not making you follow me or share with a friend or dance on your tiptoes, just a comment. Some random, lighthearted bit that will make me laugh, like “Good job, you amazing person, you!”… You’re entered. Easy peasy.
See? Easy. Lighthearted. Done.
Come on, you’ve much better chance of winning this than the lottery!
Besides, I love hearing from all the lurkers along with my regular commenters once a year!
Sign up, win a calendar, and Happy Blogoversary to me!
I get up and let the dogs out of the house, fix my coffee, then turn on the computer and enjoy your blog. You have such a wonderful family and live in a beautiful country. You inspired me to visit Buffalo, Sheridan, Shell Canyon Crazy Women Canyon, and other places around there, including a drive through Ten Sleep with lunch at a little diner there. Keep on blogging
Looks like I am the odd guy lurking ! Have enjoyed your blog for several years ! Check the weather , see what’s new in “Red
Dirt in my soul ” and head out to do chores !
Enjoy life and have a GREAT DAY !
Wow! Congratulations on this milestone! Takes so much dedication, creativity, and time! I’ve been reading and commenting for most of your 15 years, and have enjoyed having your blog to start my day. Wyoming is one of my favorite states, and I hope to visit it again…thanks for showcasing your “red dirt” way of life. Oh…yes, I would love another calendar.
Lurker, sometime commenterLove your energy and zest for life, countryside and family. We are fortunate to have your blog in our lives! Thank you
Wow! 15 years… the photos and stories of your world never cease to delight and amaze me and so many more! Keep doing what you do!
You know I’m up late lots of times like you seem to be. Maybe that’s the time you wind down a bit and do your best writing. I really do enjoy reading your blog late at night! Reminds me of my Mom and Dad when they were ranchers! Thanks‼️‼️‼️❤️
Love your entire family but really enjoy the little cowboys and girls. They get after it just like the adults. Where do you get all your ideas for your crafts? Love the coffee mugs and I believe it was some kind of alcohol painting.
There was a time in my life when I wanted a horse, because I loved to ride. Now I can’t imagine what it’d be like doing what you and your family do. I’m amazed how everyone encourages the youngsters to join in with everything — roping, branding, herding, cooking, and whatnot. It gives me hope for the future.
Your blog should be a national treasure. Thanks for brightening my days.
Hope you feel better quickly. Came to this blog quite a few years ago from Daily Coyote. As a suburbanite (right outside Washington, DC, which is a whole other story!) I find your posts absolutely fascinating.
Thanks for your blog, that I was referred to by Daily Coyote. Thanks also, for revealing the true life of a ranch family, and sharing your talent with us.
You know I’ve enjoyed your blog from the get-go. And I still enjoy it. I see Wyoming beauty. I learn something once in awhile. I’m inspired quite often. Hugs to you Friend!
I’ve been a loyal lurker from the Rimrock English Sheperds days! Yours is the first farm blog I check every morning. My dairy farm background appreciates the hard work of generations of your family involved in providing quality beef for consumption and replacement stock. Please continue sharing!
Your blog takes me back home for a little while. Thank you!
But I like lurking. Big smile. Congratulations Carol – you sone good!!! Feel better soon.

So thankful for finding your blog..By researching that freak early blizzard out there that killed so many cattle.
I LOVE the west and thought as a girl growing up that was where I’d live ….didn’t happen. But now I get to see what it’s like through your amazing photos and life
Thanks Carol!
Me! Me! Choose me! Because I married a Burton.
Congratulations on a memorable fifteen years! Keep kickin’…colds, library, ranch, family, life in general.
