The winter storm has hit, bringing us 5” of new snow, light breezes, and closed or warning roads across the Cowboy State. Yesterday, 44 vehicles were in a pileup on Interstate 80. There were no “green” or dry roads on wyoroad.info.
Quinlan had a basketball game scheduled in Worland (while statewide, many school activities were canceled). So what do we do? We drove to town to watch him play.
I told Vernon that “Most people would be staying at home.”
His quick reply… “Well, you didn’t marry Most People.”
Conditions weren’t great, but slower speeds and steady driving got us there and back again.
Do you see the vehicle in front of us? It was difficult except when it was at an angle. We kept well back. I have the tendency to put my head down and just let Vernon drive. It’s better if I don’t watch. I know, it was crazy. But we weren’t the only Ten Sleep people there, either!
Tonight the thermometer sits at -20. I hope you’re safe and warm!
And, yes, they beat Worland!
Find me here!
Looks treacherous. That’s some white out! All I can see is the little yellow road sign; no car ahead of you! Glad you are home safe.
I like, “Well, you didn’t marry most people.” Bet you already knew that! After all that, I’m glad they won.
I’m like you. Head down and not watching. Not due to snow but the busy M5 and M42 motorways we travel on to see family. Too many people doing crazy things – changing lanes constantly just to be in front . Glad you got there and back safely. Well done Vernon.
