Cool Brakes

Posted on May 29, 2023

Remember how I told you the last part of Highway 14A drops off fast? Um, yes, it is so.

They do give you plenty of “brake cooling areas” and scenic overlooks.

So many places you can be nervous about if you’re so inclined! Get it? INCLINED.

OK. Sorry. Trying to be funny for my geology type friends…

Looking back up the canyon at the road supports. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it, about the guys who said, “Yeah, we think we will build a road up this ridiculously steep canyon…”

It’s a gorgeous drive and well worth your time. Just keep your brakes cool!

Looks a wonderful drive. Worth the scary bits for amazing views.

Looks like a good road though. Do they tell you what the incline is? I think 18% in the steepest I’ve seen and I don’t remember where it was.
    I like your inclinations!

I’m “inclined” to agree!! Both the engineering challenge and the beautiful scenery are to be appreciated.

Definitely need low gear on that route, but absolutely gorgeous scenic views.
