Well, I got most of a movie made, finishing up the AI process, but since I have to wake up early to go gather cows tomorrow… and I haven’t showered from my sweaty work I did today… it’s just going to have to wait.
Vernon and I took a tour out to where we are gathering tomorrow, getting a heads up on where the cows are hanging out, and seeing how muddy it is from the inch and a half of rain we received. Our first clue was Willow Creek.

Intermittent streams are everywhere in Wyoming… this crossing is usually dry. This week it’s flowing. Is that the inter or the mittent part?

There’s no way we’re hauling a horse trailer over Buffalo Creek, another intermittent stream. This one flows more than Willow Creek but it is SOGGY in the bottom. With all the bentonite out there, it just becomes a slippery, gooey mess.
The culvert we can cross is a big one, but it is easy to see it overflowed. This will be the only place we can cross cattle over Buffalo Creek and that just added miles onto our travel.

I have to say, I’m not sure I’ve ever topped this hill overlooking Buffalo Creek and been able to see little reflections on the water. It’s usually puddles in the middle of five foot deep washes. But remember, rain is a good thing!

(The little reflections are above Bravo’s head)

I think it’s the mittent part! Water is good. Rain is wonderful, but not when it’s a pain. I guess the cows get to walk further?
Wow! terrific pictures of this unusual amount of rain. It’s good you and Vernon checked out the land before your day of gathering the cows. Happy dance!
Wow look how green it is!
