I saw on Twitter the other day, someone was going to pass out at an ag conference the bumper sticker/vinyl cling that claimed:
I’M HOT. I’M DIRTY. I FARM.
It made me giggle.
Well, today I came up with my own version.
I’M HOT. I’M SWEATY. I’M STICKY. I CAN.
Can. As in canning… preserving… ok. I guess if I have to explain it, it’s not quite so funny.
But that was my day.
I bought 26# of Whitney Crab Apples… why? because I wanted a lot of jelly.
Yup.
Got it.
17 pints.
And there’s still apples in the box!
But one of my batches, I did try something new… I made Caramel Apple Jelly, which smells just fantabulous! Vernon said it tasted good, so, YAY!
This was my view for most of the day…
Then I took all of the peels and smashed apple pieces and mashed them more to make apple butter.
But I’m saving that for morning.
I’ve had all the fun I can stand for one day.
Find me here!
Very clever title! Canning IS hard work, but well worth it. I go to a special apple orchard every year where you can pick apples, including all kinds of
“heritage” apples. Mmm. I pick a bushel for eating and for canning lots
of applesauce, always with a mix of apples. Never tried crab apples though.
