This was first posted October 27, 2012. Funny thing, I don’t remember doing this!
I’m losing it.
Seriously.
After promoting myself yesterday as “The Amazingly Awesome And Cool Visual Finalist For BlogHer’s Voice of the Year Category”, I’ve just spent the last 23 minutes wandering around my house searching for my camera.
Yup.
Took some photos today.
Yup.
Was even gonna share.
Nope.
Can’t find my stinking camera!
Now, I remember taking it out of my coat pocket… but my memory poofs into wisps of smoke at that point… I will find it after I shut the computer down or in the morning… and I’ll move on to something else to blog about!
I guess it’s fair… Not like we really wanted to talk *too* much about what happened today!
I’m cleaning my house, getting ready for some company that’s coming for the afternoon… when Daniel calls. “Can you come rescue us? The wheel fell off the pickup!”
“Wha????”
“We’re out in Willow Creek Pasture. Bring the 4 wheeler and the handy man jack and some blocks and, oh, some snacks! Watch out, it’s really greasy out here.”
To make a long story short… I did all that.
With much labor and one EEEK! moment, the wheel was back on, but the bolts were too damaged for the lug nuts to fit back on. I fell in the mud once, and the guys were slipping and sliding and there was no way the truck was making it back in with only one lug nut on to hold the tire.
So… <looks around suspiciously> DON’T TELL THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION… BUT THE FOUR OF US RODE BACK IN ON THE FOUR WHEELER… (despite the ABSOLUTELY NO PASSENGERS sticker on the four wheeler!)
A few miles of slinging greasy mud clods in a merry fountain behind us, found us all safe and sound back home. Boomer did have to run home… there was no room for him to ride!
The guys will retrieve the pickup first thing in the morning… when the mud is frozen and they have a plan for larger nuts and something or other…
Life is just a Daily Adventure here on the ranch!
(So sorry to my friend who drove two hours to visit with me… and I missed her!)
(So sorry for the lack of photos… but the guys don’t always like to share these adventures anyway!, so don’t tell them either!)
Find me here!
Yes, that sure is some adventure. Glad you were able to help the guys
right away. I hope they fixed the truck the next day,
Your life is quite the adventure! Thank goodness they had cell service where they were….
