Boxelder trees are part of the maple family. The Double Crossing has its share. It was almost impossible to go through. You had to dismount and lead your horse, keeping a careful eye that your saddle horn did not snag on a branch and panic your horse. This is what it looked like.
Vernon has diligently worked on, opening trails and areas so that the sun can now reach the forest floor.
I can’t wait to see this in summer, full of grass and new growth. Granted, he didn’t clear it ALL away… but the improvement is spectacular.
I hope it will bring back some of the wildlife… the impact of lions and blue tongue has been drastic on the deer… and everything else…. Here’s to new beginnings in the Double Crossing!
An exciting summer as you watch for returning wildlife. Hoping there will be more wildflowers now the sun can reach the ground.
Great job clearing this area. The sun can certainly reach the forest floor
now, and provide a nice new place for some wildlife. Even Bravo seems to agree!!
The cleanup looks great! Do you get box elder bugs in that area? We get horrible infestations of them at our farm in Alberta, Canada
