After struggling to figure out some maintenance on my little Japanese mini truck, I decided to go see what progress Vernon had made with some brush clearing. I met him on the road and he requested some help with a different project. Cows had been “escaping” by pushing through some existing electrical fence. He wanted to switch the poly wire out for real wire.
This “water gap” provides a place to drink while restricting access to more of the water and creek crossing. Daniel is winding up the poly wire.
One type of wire is simply replaced with another. A quick and easy job for three of us. A couple of minor adjustments to the solar charger…
And just like that… job is done. We stand around talking and poor Indy… she investigates the new wire and gets a very rude pop to her little pointy nose. The new wire works. Poor thing, I reassured her that she really was ok… we’ve all been popped by an electric fence at one time or another!

What a shock for Indy, but it’s good to be inquisitive and learn more. Sometimes it’s the hard way we learn.
Pretty nifty invention with a solar charger. Hope Indy is A-OK.
There is just no end to the jobs that ranchers do to put beef on our table!
