Blood Samples

Posted on July 2, 2024

Our heifers that were AI’d just over a month ago can now be pregnancy tested. How? A blood test that we send off to a lab. But how do we get blood from the heifers? Well, underneath their tail is a large vein… so, bright and early, we began taking blood samples.

Just like with the lab at the hospital, the vial has a vacuum to suck out the blood. Everyone helped Brandon out…

I kept the paperwork straight. With minor repairs to the chute, we were finally done about 1:30. Now we will mail off the samples and wait to find out which heifers will become mothers.
