Beauty Shots

Posted on July 30, 2024

Well, unfortunately, Can-Am didn’t see my Instagram video overnight and offer to give us a brand new outfitted Defender to drive… but that’s ok. Vernon said he’d hate to take a pretty machine down there like he did yesterday. I could not believe he kept going through all that… and that we made it to the pump house and back! There was just sooooo much grinding on rocks and clunking as we’d hit rocks hidden in the grass, it would make anyone cringe. I’d let out gasps when we’d hit something… I’d tell myself that *I* wasn’t in pain, so I was just gasping on the poor Defender’s behalf. Which doesn’t make any sense, but I couldn’t help myself!

Yes, I took my fishing pole. Didn’t even wet my hook. I was going to on the way out but Vernon was intent on getting to the top to turn on the pump and see if it worked. Then, if you go look and listen to my Instagram reel, you can see we are pushing a log through the creek. It actually punctured the plastic window on my door and was lifting my seat up as I was telling Vernon about it. Magically, it shifted position and we left it behind… good thing since Vernon had just kept on driving! Well, that stupid log not only was hard on the door and almost me… it got my little fishing pole and reel. It broke my reel but thankfully not my pole. It’s a short little pole, great for fishing Wyoming’s little creeks, and I thought initially it was broken too. Whew, nope! The reel I’ve tried to re-glue since I just bought it last year!

The overall good news is that the pump was working this morning, it was just too late for it to work last night… the downfall of solar pumps. You need enough sun!

Anyway… here’s some beauty shots of Otter Creek Canyon…

I love this ancient cedar tree… wish I knew how old it was!

Bravo on the pump house.

Yes, there is a trail there.

Close up of the log jam.

Oh WOW! The defender is TOUGH! Glad the log didn’t get you. Fishing poles and reels are replaceable. You are not! Beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.
