Benefits

Posted on September 2, 2024

Vernon took me to see his latest water project.

Originally, he was going to put it right where the spring flows out of the hill, but there were no rocks around. Experience has taught us that troughs placed with no rocks under or around, soon get beat out by cows and all the wildlife that uses them. Then you’re back repairing tanks and lines and fittings and all that hassle!

Up the hill fifty feet or so is the spring box that collects the water, which flows into a pipeline into the tank.

One pipe is the spring water… which has the valve on it. What isn’t taken in the tank flows through and down the draw as before. The pipe on the left is the overflow from the tank. I have to say, Vernon pretty much has this down to a science. The cattle and wildlife will both benefit. And the brown dog appreciates it as well.
