I often am up watching tv, reading, or occasionally crafting until 10 pm or so, when I then panic and try to write something here. Since my house is only a bit off the highway, neighbors can easily see whether my lights are on. This certain neighbor had an urgent message for me at 10:00 the other night. Forgive me for my immediate response to her text. (My mother would not be proud)

She and Tess are running buddies… so my first thought was that she was out running (yes, in the dark). Thankfully, she was in her car!

I waited an hour, then turned the hot and panting Bravo and Indy outside… but they said not a peep. Indy tends towards seeing bogeymen everywhere and often barks. When Bravo barks, it tends to be more serious (unless it’s Brandon and his dogs going by, then Bravo just loses his mind for a minute). I can hear neighbor’s dogs and mine and sometimes it seems as if they’re really excited and I just hope it’s deer or elk or raccoons or fox. I try not to think of lions or the one bear that strolled by my house years ago. We had a short visit with a friend that lives over by Meeteetse today and I was reminded to be extremely grateful we don’t live in grizzly country. I’ll deal with the lions that prefer deer meat and that run from dogs, thank you very much!
Thank you to fine neighbors that alert you to those slinky, golden kitties that pass by (mostly) unnoticed in the dark.

Can’t believe the “cat” stopped long enough to get a picture!
