We branded the end of April. Calves were two months old… big enough to handle the stress but not so big that we couldn’t hold them! The tail end of the herd, though, were just newborn or weeks old, and Johnny Greet (and the rest of us) have never been big fans of branding them so small. That means they’ve been out with their moms, eating and drinking and growing like weeds. Since April. It’s the end of June, and these calves are BIG.

That meant a little extra effort on our “wrestlers”. Kids needed serious backup. Some adults needed backup.

When the calves just won’t go down… keep trying. A photo journal on THAT tomorrow.
We’re grateful once again, for family that works together, for neighbors and friends that give of their time, for fat calves and good horses and food to feed the crew!

The pic with all the horsemen lined up to go is a great picture.
