Vet Check

Posted on September 16, 2025September 16, 2025

Running heifers through the chute also gives us a chance to check their general health. With The Good Doctor there, we have the opportunity to fix the problem.

Case #1: Bad case of pinkeye.

With the white pimpley part there, the eye is on its way to healing on its own. We helped with some antibiotics and an eye patch.

Case #2: Blood wart

Cutting off circulation to this blood wart will eventually make it fall off. Using surgical tubing, the wart is tied off tightly.

A year ago, The Good Doctor used just a rubber glove stretched around one, and, yes, it worked and fell off. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple remedy.

The universe might have given her a blood wart, but the vet and surgical tubing will make this one disappear.

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
