Slightly Sketchy

Posted on October 21, 2025October 21, 2025

I spent a couple hours at the well again. As I arrived, much of the drilling rig equipment was being hauled away.

The guys were busy covering up the trench close to the well, smoothing out the piles, and planning for more trench work.

When there are three guys working in concert, it’s amazing how fast things can get done!

Then there’s this cute little A frame… a used tiny building soon to live life as a well house. It’s the cutest little thing. Time to unload it.

As they’d lift, the A frame would rock threatening to tip. Up and down. Adjustments. Up and down. Discussion. Re-situated. Up. Rock. Vernon jumped out and grabbed a corner. Daniel grabbed a corner. Brandon ran to drive the pickup and trailer away. I, reluctantly, grabbed on to help steady it, when Vernon told me to back up and let them know how fast to lower it. With Brandon now steadying it, Vernon and Daniel climbed back on their excavators and I signaled DOWN.

By Jove, we did it! And as Daniel said, it was only slightly sketchy! I can’t wait until the pad is ready for this to go over the well…

Slightly Sketchy’ is a term often used to describe something that feels uncertain, unreliable, or mildly suspicious, yet not entirely alarming. It occupies a gray area between trustworthiness and doubt, leaving room for interpretation and caution. In everyday contexts, it might refer to a situation, person, or plan that raises subtle red flags—perhaps a deal that seems too good to be true, a story with inconsistencies, or a behavior that doesn’t quite add up. The phrase conveys a sense of mild unease rather than outright danger, encouraging a closer look or a more cautious approach. In creative fields, ‘slightly sketchy’ could describe a rough draft, an unfinished idea, or a concept that lacks polish but holds potential. It’s a reminder that imperfection and ambiguity are often part of the process, whether in relationships, projects, or decision-making. Embracing the ‘slightly sketchy’ can mean acknowledging uncertainty while remaining open to possibilities, striking a balance between skepticism and optimism. Ultimately, it’s a term that captures the complexity of navigating life’s ambiguities with a mix of curiosity and caution

Clever use of the A-frame! I always enjoy these continuing stories of your ranch projects.
