Ready for Bigfoot

Posted on December 28, 2025December 28, 2025

Winter has finally hit with a couple inches of snow and temperatures in the single digits. For that reason, Vernon pulled my Jeep in the heated shop to install my Christmas present.

Weird, huh? It’s an infrared deer detector for my Jeep. Some fancy vehicles already have this feature, but not mine! In a few years, it’ll probably be standard in cars, we’re just ahead of the curve.

It took a bit of finagling, but we did it.

In infrared mode, it really zooms in, but there’s no missing Vernon’s heat signature!

It has a normal mode…

And it has a camera and a video button if you see an elk herd or a mountain lion on your drive.

It heat detected my cats under the pine tree and alerted to a “Hazard”, my camera just couldn’t capture it.

It’ll be fun figuring this all out… I wish I’d had it when I saw those mountain lion kittens on the highway! And I’m ready for Bigfoot to cross in front of me, I won’t be fumbling for my camera or phone, I’ve got a FLIR!
