Victoria was here and we went on a tour.
First stop, the tree removal is in cleanup mode, with Vernon picking up sticks left behind.

The pile is humongous, but he’s just picking up the small stuff.

He jumped in the side by side to drive us to see the fence project. Back in the day, old timers put fences where they could get them as close to the property line as they could barring rocky and steep ridges. Hence, the situation where we were short quite a bit of property.
But Vernon has his mighty mini excavator and we were finally gonna do it! I say we. I mean Vernon. Him and some large equipment operators and a hired fencer. Not me.
We toured. Sagebrush hills. No problem. Bottom of a sometimes boggy draw. Eh. Whoops! It was touch and go for a minute but we made it. Up a rocky slope with hoodoos, one of my favorite spots to ride… Then…

Around this juniper and eeek! down in the slick draw, then see the line above the juniper?

There. Straight shot up a very steep slope. Yeah, I wouldn’t have built a fence here either with a shovel and packing supplies…
We got to the top and Vernon took an abrupt left. I told him I was glad he did.
The line continues out on the sagebrush flat.

It’s quite the drop off. Oh, but what scenery! It also happens to be a great place to roll rocks off hills.

Then it was time to head back down…

Though it took two tries, we even made it across the big draw and back safely to home!
Once again, I’m impressed by all that my husband does… no one can say that he hasn’t got his money’s worth out of that excavator!
Impressive!
