More Door

Posted on August 11, 2026August 11, 2026

Haha. Any Lord of the Rings fans out there?

Vernon was busy on the mountain working on a pipeline… so I had plenty of time to stare at my door. I thought and planned and thought… and I still messed it up! My brother, the carpenter would not be so proud… but in my defense, I had no square, either the big one or my little one, available and I went off my eye balls and what looked good, only to find, I’m not so good at that!

I shoved the door into the opening, deciding it needed a smidge sawed off. I decided to cut off the bottom… I could have removed the screws but I had also taken my Brad nailer to it, and they’d all have to be pried out. “It’s just an outhouse.” Has become my mantra. If I cut off the bottom, grass will grow in front and people will notice the cut less. I did it. Put it back up and found I had turned the door around on my sawhorses and actually cut the top so everyone can notice. Good job, Carol!

I decided to stain the background and I will paint the crosspieces. Once I started cutting the crosspieces, boy you can notice how the lack of a square really messed me up. It is pretty ugly! It’s only an outhouse…

Remember, this is our “girlie” outhouse since the guys didn’t think we needed a new one… so turquoise paint is perfect!

I will put the hinges on tomorrow and see if the door will work. If it does, I will take it down, saw it in half and have a Dutch door. Why? Because you can hold the reins of your horse while using the facilities! Don’t laugh… it can be a real problem! It will be back to MoreDoor tomorrow, but it’s Wordless Wednesday and puzzle time… and I have a doozy lined up!
