As strange as it seems, I’ve been doing some weaving. I’ve got the luxury of hiding out in front of the air conditioner on these hot days, so I thought I’d use my peg loom again. This time I would try making a round rug.
A round rug off a straight loom? It can be done!

My sister had found some flat sheets at a garage sale and I tore them into long strips. I had to watch quite a few videos on YouTube trying to figure out how long to make my warp threads. Finally, I jumped into the fray. Turns out, you are just weaving triangular pieces. In the photo above I am almost halfway through. The method simply has you reducing your weaving by one peg every cycle. By about your eighth triangle, your circle will be … uh… circular?

Once you have as many triangles as your project needs… you’ll tighten the warp threads and tie them off, leaving you with your rug or seat cushion or whatever! I have yet to tie it off, but it does work.
I probably won’t make more round rugs, but now I know I can!
