Practice

Posted on October 25, 2013

Well, it’s confirmed.

I’m one of the speakers next January for the Johnson County Cattlewomen Meeting in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Yeah.  Me!

I’ve been wanting to try this… and by golly, if they didn’t just call me out of the blue!  They’re looking for something on the lighthearted side… and somehow thought I might be able to fit the bill.

I’m a bit nervous… but I’ll be backed by some of my photos, and I’ll read a few of my blog entries… and if I know anything… it’s that ranchwives all have a great sense of humor (we have to!) and that they’ll relate to these small glimpses into ranchlife that I try to share everyday.  I’m already starting to collect the blog entries I’ll use…

We’ll see if being on the forensics team in high school, being the daughter of a great storyteller, and having a layer of bull-you-know-what on my boots, helps me in anyway!  I’ll need all the help I can get, so, if you have any advice… You have 2.5 months to get it to me!  Well, no.  You have a week.  I’ll need to practice for 2.5 months!!

    Hi Carol:

As a city girl, I am always fascinated how you have adapted to ranch life. In all of your posts, you would never guess that you weren’t raised on a ranch.

I don’t know if this topic would be good for your January speech, but how a city girl became a ranch girl would really be of interest to me.

    Love your blog!

Nancy, thanks! Thanks for the input… I may mention my level of ignorance when I first got married in my speech. That’s good for a laugh! Glad you’re here!

Congratulations! Wish I could be there in January. You’ll have PLENTY of very entertaining stories and pictures to share. Also, my new Red Dirt

Congratulations! Only advice I have (from years of teaching and speaking) – don’t read, tell stories. Hmmmmm, wondering if I could “fake” being a cattlewoman and saunter up your way in January. 😉
