Hay, What?

Posted on February 18, 2025February 18, 2025

In fields across the northern states, this scene is repeated on varying scales, from a few head to many, many more. Grass, alfalfa, straw, corn stalks, sorghum, and sudan, whatever can be baled and fed to cattle makes its appearance. Add in mineral supplements, “cake”, cob corn, sugar beets, winter wheat… whatever the rancher needs to create a balanced diet is brought in. Add in trees and hills for protection from blustery winds. They will need extra feed to generate their body heat with these current frigid temperatures. All in all, we do what we can to alleviate the stress of winter.

Looks like a nice spot to spend winter.
